Dominoes is a classic game that brings people together with its simple rules and engaging play.
Whether you're hosting a family gathering or a friendly get-together, our luxury Dominoes Set, complete with a beautifully engraved box, ensures that your game night is both elegant and fun.
Here’s how to play this timeless game.
Setting Up the Game
-
Gather Your Players: Dominoes can be played with 2-4 players. It’s a great game for both small and large gatherings.
-
Prepare the Dominoes: Our set includes a double-six domino set, which has 28 tiles. Lay the tiles face down on the table and shuffle them.
-
Draw Your Tiles:
For 2 players: Each player draws 7 tiles.
For 3-4 players: Each player draws 5 tiles.
The remaining tiles form the boneyard, from which players will draw during the game.
Basic Rules of Dominoes
-
Starting the Game: The player with the highest double (a tile with the same number on both ends, like 6-6) starts the game. If no one has a double, the tiles are reshuffled, and players draw again.
-
Playing a Tile: Players take turns laying down a tile that matches the number on one end of the domino chain. For example, if the starting tile is 6-6, the next player must play a tile with a 6 on it.
-
Drawing from the Boneyard: If a player cannot make a move, they must draw a tile from the boneyard until they can play. If the boneyard is empty and a player cannot play, they pass their turn.
-
Winning a Round: The round ends when a player has played all their tiles or when no more moves can be made. The player with the lowest total of pips (dots) on their remaining tiles wins the round.
-
Scoring: The winner scores points equal to the total number of pips on the remaining tiles of all other players. The game can be played to a set point total, such as 100 points.
Popular Variations
-
Block Dominoes: In this variation, players do not draw from the boneyard. If a player cannot play a tile, they pass their turn. The round ends when no one can play a tile.
-
Draw Dominoes: The standard rules where players draw from the boneyard until they can play a tile. This variation tends to last longer and is great for more leisurely play.
-
Mexican Train: Each player builds their own train of dominoes, starting from a central double. Players can also play on the "Mexican train," a shared line of dominoes. This variation is perfect for larger groups and adds a fun twist to the game.
